Sander De Keere breathes music. Besides being a radio presenter and podcast maker at Klara, he has been steadily working his way up as a musician and composer in recent years, with a passion for old synthesizers and a love for minimalist repetitive music. After a few singles, debut Primitive structures (CCHA, 2022), and the piano composition For Ruth Crawford, De Keere consciously withdrew for a few years to further develop his musical language. This autumn, The manual stop appears, on which he transforms the centuries-old baroque organ into a new sound experience. The 1765 pipes and 27 registers of the instrument breathe, click, swell, and pulse like analog electronics, with the organ emerging as an acoustic synthesizer from the pre-electric era. With Met The manual stop, De Keere brings a daring homage to the craftsmanship of the instrument as well as an adventurous sonic experiment. The result is an immersive and idiosyncratic listening experience in which old resonances and progressive sound design meet and our expectations of the pipe organ are radically redrawn.
