1994: Kurt Cobain dies, the PlayStation is released and in a meaningless Flemish village four girls are born. In their teenage years, they start helping out in bowling club ‘Bowling Buffalo’. At thirty years old, the four women – the buffalas – still work there… Meanwhile, they have become part of the furniture. They still smell like teen spirit and still play Crash Bandicoot while they bicker about their loose love lives, drink milkshakes and smoke cigarettes. All these years, the four women have lived in a wonderful feeling of timelessness, under the dimmed light of the retro bowling decor and their own unbridled imagination. Until one of them announces her departure. She wants to take a new direction in her life and leave the bowling behind. Now that someone has dragged in the concept of ‘finiteness’, all the pins fall in record time. A story unfolds about ambition, loyalty and whether or not to pursue your (dusty) dreams. Bowling Buffalo is a Wildcard performance by Compagnie Cecilia. Under this label, this theater company supports and produces non-own projects that closely align with its formal and substantive pillars.
