Senior trip September 10, 2026: Kontich Kazerne and Waarloos

The municipal senior trip (only for seniors living in Kontich) will take place this year on September 9 and 10, 2026 . On September 9 , we welcome the seniors from Kontich Centrum, on September 10 those from Kontich Kazerne and Waarloos. Program 08:45 AM – 1st boarding point church Kontich-Kazerne, Montfortstraat 09:00 AM – 2nd boarding point parking Berkenhof, Ferdinand Maesstraat 95, Waarloos 10:00 AM – Arrival in Dendermonde and welcome by guides. Followed by: coffee or tea with a pastry in a local catering establishment 10:30 AM – City walk with a visit to: the City Hall: On the top floor of the City Hall, you will be immersed in a beautiful art collection, including works by the Dendermondse Schilderschool and references to the Ros Beiaard. The imposing Belfry was integrated into the City Hall at the end of the 14th century. the Church of Our Lady: De Onze-Church of Our Lady houses an exceptional collection at the top level of Flemish culture, including a rare Romanesque baptismal font and two paintings by Antoon Van Dyck. Het Sint-Alexius Beguinage is a UNESCO World Heritage site the Saint-Alexius Beguinage: We visit an authentic beguine house and discover what life was like there in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Museum of Folklore is also located on the site. 12:30 PM – Lunch in a local catering establishment (soup, main course, coffee or tea) 02:30 PM – Visit to the shipyards in Baasrode. This site is one of the most beautiful industrial-archaeological locations in Flanders. The guides tell the story of shipbuilding along the Scheldt, once a thriving and important local industry. 04:00 PM – Sandwiches in a local catering establishment 05:00 PM – End of day trip 06:00 PM – Arrival in Kontich
