Book club: The Autobiography of My Body by Lize Spit

Starting from a book, you will be led to discuss your impressions, enrich your sensible experience through the reading of excerpts and evoke other readings, but also films, series, music. An invitation to transform an individual reading into a collective experience, to broaden the spectrum and to ricochet together… Sessions take place in the early evening, in the cozy small lounge of Passa Porta. New episode: Autobiography of my body by Lize Spit (invited to Passa Porta on 11/26). Upon the announcement of her mother's terminal illness, Lize Spit (Débâcle) undertakes a final reconciliation. Autobiography of my body is a brutally honest and overwhelming stripping bare: that of a daughter seeking to understand not only the complex relationship that binds her to her mother, but also the troubled relationship she maintains with her own body. What could merely be an intimate narrative becomes an exploratory quest of universal scope: that of our relationship to our parents, the imprint of their flaws and family dynamics in our construction. A narrative that redefines the autobiographical genre by pushing it toward a raw and uncompromising truth. About the author Lize Spit was born in 1988 and grew up in the Antwerp region.
