Start your Parkies summer in Sint-Niklaas on Tuesday, July 7 with "Op Het Ritme Van Rob", the tribute to Rob de Nijs by Wim Soutaer, Axl Peleman, and Jan Hautekiet. Of course, Rob de Nijs has been one of the undisputed greats of Dutch-language music for decades, and that his vocal sound colored the childhood of singer Wim Soutaer is in itself not really extraordinary. But the great love that Wim conceived for the work of the singer of ‘Malle Babbe’, ‘Het werd zomer’, ‘Zondag’, and so much other beauty, turned out to be lifelong and simply inspiring. Every time he saw De Nijs perform, he couldn't help but think: yes, I want to do that too. Today, Wim Soutaer takes the opportunity to pay tribute to his idol on stage, and this in the company of fellow fans such as Gianni Marzo (Marble Sounds, Isbells), Axl Peleman, Jan Hautekiet, Manu Huylebroeck & Ron Reuman. All musicians with their own style and background, who use their truly special talents to appropriately praise the giant Rob de Nijs. Despite the economically more difficult times, the organizers have, thanks to the indispensable cooperation of the local authorities, volunteers, sponsors, and artists, once again succeeded in keeping ‘the biggest smallest festival in Flanders’ completely free. As a result, an estimated 300,000 people can once again enjoy special concerts and musical evenings close to home this summer, in a green environment provided with a snack and a drink.
