MA Festival: Jean Rondeau: Couperin

Laureate of MA Competition 2012 Jean Rondeau is internationally praised for his deep respect for the past in combination with his boundary-pushing programming. Zoals Gramophone in 2023 noted, teaches Rondeau us “how flexible and expressive the harpsichord can be – perhaps more than we ever thought”. Rondeau’s most recent project, the complete oeuvre of Louis Couperin, is, in his words, “one of the most important projects in my life”. Rondeau began his harpsichord studies at the age of six with an unmeasured prelude by Louis Couperin, Rondeau praises the ability of the composer to make the instrument “sing and vibrate like no one before him and probably also no one after him”.
