What if we decide to stay together? What if we radically choose not to retreat into our own rightness, but to keep looking for what binds us?
Two friends can no longer be with, but also not without each other. In an ultimate attempt to save their friendship, they go in search of the origin of their struggles and ways to overcome them. Or at least to understand them.
Because how is it that you can clash so hard with someone you love so much? How far do you have to step out of your own comfort zone to understand the other? And do you want that?
Suzanne Grotenhuis and Freek Vielen are theater company De Nwe Tijd together and have been friends for more than 20 years. For this performance, they dive into their personal history and stand on stage together with a backpack full of old pain and good memories.
Tell me how it should be is a funny, awkward, and intense search for connection and sincerity. For all friends who don't understand why they sometimes can't stand each other, for all children who no longer speak to their parents, for all couples who doubt between breaking up or continuing to look for ways to go on together anyway.
