Les Âmes Perdues is an Antwerp music-theatre trio consisting of Naomi Beeldens, Isaak Duerinck and Ewout Lehoucq. The performers move freely between concert and theatre and create playful, idiosyncratic programmes in which genres, styles and times are deliberately intertwined. For this creation, they do not start from a classical concert, but from a musical guided tour through the Notelaer and its location on the Scheldt. The trio approaches the site as a transition zone: between land and water, history and imagination, fixed architecture and flowing time. De Schelde does not merely act as a background, but as dramaturgical inspiration. As a trade route, border, witness and mythical carrier, the river has moved stories, bodies and sounds for centuries. That layering resonates in a form that is potentially walking-based, with concert moments at various places on the site around the Notelaer. The repertoire is inspired by oral traditions, folk legends, village fairs and noble histories. Musically, the trio connects French chansons, Flemish folk songs, Renaissance dances and classical music, from Tylman Susato to Jacques Brel. Location: the Notelaer, beacon of nature and culture The neoclassical Paviljoen De Notelaer takes its name from an immense walnut tree on the Scheldt dike in Hingene that long served as a beacon for skippers. The noble d'Ursel family had the building erected at the end of the eighteenth century, to a design by the French court architect Charles De Wailly. They used it as a hunting pavilion and festive reception room for the - often high-ranking - guests of their nearby castle.
