Buffalo Tom

Buffalo Tom was founded in 1986 at UMASS (Amherst, MA) and consists of Bill Janovitz (guitar/vocals), Chris Colbourn (bass/vocals), and Tom Maginnis (drums). The band emerged from the same fertile scene in Massachusetts that produced bands like Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads, Pixies, and Belly. They quickly built a reputation for their solid guitar sound, melodic hooks, and emotional songwriting. After a debut on SST Records, the trio broke through internationally at Beggars Banquet Records with albums like Let Me Come Over, Big Red Letter Day, and Sleepy Eyed—staples on alternative rock radio and MTV in the '90s. In the nearly forty years since, Buffalo Tom has continued to evolve. The band has now released 10 albums, including Jump Rope, released in 2024. They remain true to their signature mix of poetic lyrics and a powerful, anthemic sound, making them one of the most consistent and respected bands in indie rock.
