▶︎ The concert will be preceded by a screening of unreleased films by the group Tuxedomoon: “Ghost Sonata” (1991) and “A Thousand Lives by Pictures” (1983) – from the group's archives, these videos were edited in 2007 by the label Crammed Discs in a DVD box set on the occasion of Tuxedomoon's 30th anniversary.
▲ Steve Brown
co-founder of Tuxedomoon, Steven Brown played a central role in the golden age of post-punk in San Francisco and in the New York No Wave scene. Fleeing Reagan's toxic America in the early 1980s, the group settled in Brussels for 12 years and quickly became one of the most influential groups in Europe, among other things because their music transcended all genres: rock, electronic music, minimalist music, classical music, jazz, gypsy music, and pop merged simultaneously into an almost premonitory mix.
Settled in Mexico since 1993, Steven Brown continued his musical career and the group continued to exist in different forms; After ‘El Hombre Invisible’ in 2022, Steven Brown wanted to explore a somewhat different dimension, more instrumental and in particular with more brass.
“In This Very World”, recorded between Oaxaca and Brussels, thus alternates fluidly between Brown's inimitable and iconic vocal presence and evocative, stripped-down, and mainly acoustic instrumental pieces.
