Bezoekerscentrum Vallei van het Merkske - De Klapekster, Wortel (Hoogstraten)
Free
On Sunday, August 16, Natuurpunt Markvallei is organizing a fascinating nature walk in Wortel-Kolonie. We depart at 2:00 PM from the Bezoekerscentrum Vallei of the Merkske. During this summery trip, we will get to know the great diversity of trees that Wortel is rich in: from stately oaks and beeches to characterful birches and maples. Our guide will explain how to recognize species by leaf, bark, and growth form, and will reflect on their role for the landscape and the life around it.
In addition, we will focus our gaze on the aquatic life in the Colony. We will look for amphibians and listen to the splashing and croaking along pools and ditches. Frogs are in the spotlight: the green frog and the common frog often show themselves, and with some luck, we might even spot the graceful tree frog.
Put on sturdy walking shoes and take a bottle of water in sunny weather. Everyone is welcome. Join in, discover the hidden wealth of Wortel-Kolonie, and let yourself be surprised by the stories behind trees and frogs. Appointment: August 16, 2:00 PM, Bezoekerscentrum Vallei of the Merkske.
