Musette is the blues from Paris. Paris Musette, begotten from the liaison dangereuse of the dance music of the Auvergnats and Italian folk music. Add to that later the swing from jazz and the lyricism from the chanson, and rousing music is created, imbued with melancholy and frivolous virtuosity. Gwen Cresens pays homage to the Django Reinhardt of the accordion: Gus Viseur (1915-1974). He gave the rich accordion repertoire a new breath by adding jazz elements to it: swing, harmonic enrichment, and much improvisation inspired by the virtuoso swing jazz of Django Reinhardt and the nervous bebop of Charlie Parker. It is not surprising that Gus Viseur became a member of the famous Hot Club De France. Gus Viseur was an inspiring grandmaster of the accordion, passionate composer, masterful improviser, sincere jazzman, and every inch a gentleman. Met Bruxelles Musette wants Gwen Cresens to highlight the figure and the music of Gus Viseur again, place it in its musical context, and bring it to the present. With original compositions by Viseur himself, but also by his contemporaries, his successors, and his adepts: Jo Privat, Tony Murena, Marcel Azzola, Jean Corti, Richard Galliano, and Rony Verbiest, and even new own music. Bruxelles Musette is a warm plea to bring our expatriate compatriot Gus Viseur back to Belgium and give him a place of honor in our rich music history. Bruxelles Musette consists of musicians who are each connected to Brussels in their own way, were born there, live, work, play music. With the music of Gus Viseur, Bruxelles Musette wants to form a guard of honor for the lost and forgotten accordionists that Brussels has been rich in over the last 100 years. Vive l’accordéon! Ah non peut-être! Gwen Cresens: accordion Patrick Riguelle: vocals, guitar, lap steel Jan Hautekiet: piano Jasper Hautekiet: double bass Matthias De Waele: drums Ticket incl. drink and snack.
