Wijkt Uit! Free performances in various participating neighborhoods and/or neighborhood associations

Wijkt uit (Neighborhood Out) – culture in your street! On Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Merksplas culture department is heading out again with the cozy and surprising concept “Merksplas Wijkt uit”! Six enthusiastic neighborhoods are opening their doors and forming the backdrop for a unique evening full of experience, meeting, and culture. What can you expect? Each participating neighborhood will host no fewer than three different mobile acts. From music to theater, from humor to wonder – the performances move from neighborhood to neighborhood, so there is something special to experience everywhere. We will, of course, come back to this later. Keep a close eye on our social media and other channels for this. Merksplas Wijkt uit – and you too, right? We want to emphasize that the performances are for everyone. If you don't live in one of the aforementioned neighborhoods or districts, don't let that stop you and feel free to come and enjoy. All performances are completely free. We look forward to seeing you there! Our acts (in random order) · Tonprater Hans Tonpraten, buutreedn, sauwelen, chatting, babbling,… whatever you want to call it, Hans does this best! With his juicy dialect, he gets plenty of room to play with language and spout it out so you can see it happening… wonderful to experience! His life motto ‘if you tickle yourself…don't forget to laugh! Come and see, come and see! · De Frisse Knapen De fresh guys; a pleasant acoustic collective that shines in versatility. They are ‘playful’ guys, interactive with their audience, always present, always with a ‘fresh style’, but also always pleasantly surprising! · Fergus Music (Fergus Flight) Fergus is the alter ego of singer and performer Daan Thoné, known to us all as a musical jack-of-all-trades. He has a unique repertoire for everyone, so grease your vocal cords and sing along with them at the top of your lungs. But above all: just enjoy! · Hot Soep du Chance Hot soep de chance is a popular Belgian gypsy jazz quartet from the Kempen. The band brings a swinging repertoire with a mix of gypsy jazz standards and original songs. Undoubtedly, they will make you sing, swing, and move! · Galley Head Sinds 1978 making music with the same core is no small feat! Galley Head mainly brings wonderful Irish music, but their program is even more extensive… They play what they like to hear and perform with great pleasure! Not playing notes, but making music! Now with just as much enthusiasm and loads of experience, they are coming to share their infectious music with us. Expect an evening full of musical discoveries, intimate moments, but above all wonderful warm music straight from the heart! · Kris Robyan Kris, our thoroughbred Kempense Country singer brings Country music to look up to. He brings part of his amazing repertoire for us, and you can assume that it is impossible to sit still during this. Music that immediately takes you along and gives you Nashville vibes!
