VOX FEMINA BAROCCA

The Women's Choir Cappella Concinite pays tribute to the forgotten voices of the Baroque. This concert program focuses on sacred music by female composers, many of whom lived and worked in religious communities. They do this together with the baroque ensemble Le Concert Etésien and conductor Alexandros Kavvadas. The concert series starts in the beguinage of Leuven and also plays in other beguinage churches. De Vlaamse beguinages form the ideal backdrop for this project. Just like in the monasteries where this music originated, devotion, community spirit, and female intellectual development were central here. The intimate acoustics of the churches lend themselves perfectly to this repertoire. The concert takes you on an enchanting journey with musical gems by Caterina Assandra, Lucrezia Orsina Vizzana, Maddalena Casulana, Raffaella Aleotti, Claudia Francesca Rusa, and Chiara Margarita Cozzolani.
