Magenta Quartet

Fanny Mendelssohn (1805-1847) Nocturne in G minor, H.337 String Quartet in E-flat major, H.277 Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) Capriccio, op. 81 No. 3 The only string quartet by Fanny Mendelssohn, the Quartet in E-flat major counts among her most ambitious chamber music works. Composed in 1834 in the musical circle of the Mendelssohn family in Berlin, it opens with an almost improvised gesture before deploying a dense and intensely expressive style. The composer develops a rich thematic elaboration and a close dialogue between the four instruments, affirming a musical voice of great personality within German Romanticism.
