De Gentse singer Uma Shanti Dew writes quirky songs in which poetry and melancholy embrace each other.
Her story began a while ago with songs and expectation. A bike ride along Jo Francken gave her path further shape. That is how her ball kept rolling — slowly, at her own pace, contrarian and free.
Today her music sounds both timeless and contemporary.
Together with her musicians, she brings word art, wrapped in the soft piano sounds of Simon Moortgat, fused with the warm guitar sounds of Daniel Perez and carried by the deep bass and drum tones of Tuur Geldhof and Daan Verstraete.
The result is a blanket to crawl under.
