Strings lead through the continent

This guitar concert follows a musical line through Europe, from east to south, with attention to what happens in between: the gradual shifts between styles, traditions, and countries. We start in the east, in a sound world that balances between late Romanticism and innovation. From there, the music moves to Central Europe, where dance and form meet. In Duitsland anchors that line in the Baroque - a musical foundation that continues to work for a long time - and later takes shape again in the Romantic expression and virtuosity of the 19 th century. Further to the south, the soundscape changes audibly. Influences mix, rhythms become looser and more pronounced. What begins as a European tradition opens up to other colors and styles, and culminates in a southern intensity in which dance, melancholy, and energy come together. In this journey, there is also a personal connection. Student and teacher are on stage together again: each with their own voice, but rooted in a shared musical background. What was once passed on takes on a new form here in ensemble playing. Thus, this is a program in which the strings not only lead through the continent, but also make visible the lines that connect music, tradition, and generations. Throughout the 2026-2027 season, we will travel to various Bornem living rooms. Young promising musicians at the beginning of their careers will take the stage there together with their (former) teacher from the Bornemse Academie for Music, Word & Dance.
