Step aboard the Orient Express for a musical journey full of style, flair, and celebration. From stately London, the train departs with Purcell and Handel, to steam further via Paris and Vienna to the heart of the Balkans. Along the way, the dark Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns, the sparkling Trumpet Concerto by Haydn, and the notoriously virtuoso Carnaval de Venise by Arban sound. In the east, fiery folk dances from Croatia, Serbia, and Bulgaria sound again. And as befits a real New Year's concert, the ride ends in grand Viennese style: with the irresistible waltzes and polkas of the Strauss dynasty. The program is preceded by a composition that Benjamin Haemhouts composed especially for the 50th anniversary of Ter Dilft. As usual, Kurt Van Eeghem is the host of this party. After this New Year's concert, we raise a glass to the new year! www.cascophil.be
