Also on the second evening of our (theater) project Nice t(w)o meet you, we introduce young makers or new faces who have not played in CCHA before to our audience. In a double bill formula, we show two performances on one evening. One ticket, two performances, and a cozy drink and chat in between. It would be Nice t(w)o meet you there! Maria Zandvliet, Catho De Cordt, Marieke Schraepen & Bastiaan Vandendriessche - young girls young girls is a performance in which four performers reenact the HBO series Girls (the masterpiece of Lena Dunham, which was broadcast between 2012 and 2017). At least, they make an attempt. The series shows the lives of four twenty-something girls in New York City. Banal starting point! That shouldn't be that hard. Reenacting the series, a splashing portrait of the time just before #MeToo, opens questions. What does it mean ten years later to be a girl? How long does her success keep her afloat? Is her story worth it, or is it better to remain a passage in her diary? In reenacting out of love and purification, the performance seeks liberation from the cliché, limiting scripts of the young girl. Good luck girls! Judith Engelen - I met you once, I loved you twice Judith Engelen makes a visual performance that shows the desire to love on the one hand, and the distrust that makes that love impossible on the other. In a time of disinformation where the truth seems irrelevant, it is becoming increasingly difficult to know what is real and who you can still trust. With sculptures and new technologies, Engelen builds a world in which the boundaries between reality and imagination fade. Judith Engelen graduated from the Theater Academy in Maastricht and works as an actor and maker. She has already presented work in both museums and theaters (e.g., Rooms Festival, Close Encounters, Theater aan Zee, NTGent) and is now also a guest with her own work in CCHA for the first time.
