Tramlijn Begeerte is a top classic from the Amerikaanse Realisme, and established Marlon Brando’s name as one of the greatest actors of the so-called method acting school, where the actor completely immerses himself in his character. Oscar nomination material, then. Maar de Tramlijn is not a nice, light, and airy piece. It tackles some of the most unpleasant social and psychological themes: narcissism, alcohol addiction, domestic violence, and rape. Yet it is one of the most performed and beloved pieces in theater. Precisely because it is so truthful. Because all roles are such a challenge for actors, who can shine through the lifelike dialogues and characterizations. Because of the emotions, which descend on the stage like whirlwinds. And because of the final chord, brutal and heartbreaking. The play is 75 years old. And still a contemporary cry from the heart. A classic, then. CAST Kevin Janssens, Clara Cleymans, Evelien Bosmans, Ben Segers, Sandrine Van Handenhoven, Yemi Oduwale, Ann De Winne, Rino Sokol, Leo de Clippeleir, Flora Van Canneyt
