AAVAAZ Quartet

A quartet with two Iranian musicians Farnoosh Khodadadeh and Shahab Azinmehr and two Flemish musicians Nathan Daems and Seraphine Stragier, who bring the beauty of Persian poetry and Persian music to life together. One of the beautiful masterpieces of Attar Neishabouri – Iranian mystic and poet from the 12th century – is ‘De Samenspraak van Vogels’. In this beautiful storybook, Phoenix, the legendary bird, also appears in a poem. His mysterious songs are the foundation of the art of music. With those songs, he sets all living beings in motion and forces them into both restlessness and silence. Phoenix knows when his death is approaching. He is a loner and is not attached to anything in this life. When the time of his death comes, he builds a pyre around himself and raises a lament about the bitter sorrow of death. Phoenix sings, begins to burn, and shrinks to ashes. From these ashes, a small Phoenix rises, which brings new beauty and renewal with it. In this poem, Attar highlights the special life story of Phoenix, but emphasizes above all that life is not an endless story, not even for the legendary Phoenix. He tells us that of all our life tasks, letting go and then accepting death is the most difficult one that awaits us. Shahab Azinmehr composed according to the life cycle of Phoenix described in this poem. Together with Nathan Daems, Seraphine Stragier, and Farnoosh Khodadadeh, they sing ‘Het Lied of the Phoenix’, to experience the beauty of life, death, and the resurrection of this inspiring bird with you. To mourn and celebrate together. The debut album of the AAVAAZ-kwartet ‘Het Lied of the Phoenix’ was recorded in the spring of 2026. The album's release tour is planned for 2026-2027, both domestically and abroad.
