The castles of the Loire, and they are countless, are world-famous and attract many people, especially in the high season.
Less known is the signposted bicycle path of more than 800 kilometers that runs along this beautiful wide - but not always navigable - river. This magnificent bicycle path takes you past the most famous castles, and because of that, the route often seeks out the hills, with magnificent views.
Numerous stories are connected to the castles of the Loire, full of splendor, glory, and wealth, but also with tricks and intrigues. Numerous kings of France had their residence or summer home in this region and displayed their unlimited power here. The many mistresses of those monarchs had their heyday there.
My wife Marie-Jeanne and I cycled a long way on this route. I made a 45-minute film about this. In it, I tell stories about the castles and much more, and I let you enjoy not only images of that beautiful region but also magnificent French chansons.
