De Russische pianist Alexander Kashpurin is the winner of Liszt Utrecht 2026, the jury announced after the final in the Grote Zaal van Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht. The audience prize worth 2,000 euros also went to Kashpurin.
Liszt Utrecht presents, develops, and promotes piano talents from all over the world. As a result, it is one of the most important springboards to the international professional classical music scene for young musicians. Since its founding in 1986, the competition has built a reputation as one of the world's most prestigious piano competitions. From the 2022 edition, the competition has a new setup, in which there is less focus on the competition element and participants get more opportunities to show their talent to an international audience.
