What does it mean to have to find each other and yourself again and again within a relationship? An 'I' can never exist without the encounter with an 'other', we dare to believe. But what if what you share no longer coincides with the image you have of it? Do we then just nestle into certainty and comfort? Or do we put everything at stake?
In In Zolang we see two people on stage who keep practicing their love. They play each other, repeat old scenes, invent new ones. They talk about work, sex, power, and tenderness. Always in the hope of touching something real again.
The living room, with its two-seater sofa and coffee corner, thus becomes a battlefield of imagination and desire, a cinematic set where reality and fiction merge. From outside their walls, the world pushes in, because - as becomes clear - love exists not only between two people, but also in relation to the world outside. Or between players and audience. Because without play, there is no love.
