Monthly walk: Plants with medicinal properties

🤔🌱 Weeds? They don't actually exist… only unwanted plants 😉🌿 🗓 Sunday, September 27, 2026 – 14:30 to 17:00 Weeds? We only use that word to tease our plants a little 😉 What we sometimes thoughtlessly pull out or walk past was pure luxury for our ancestors: an apothecary, herb cabinet, and first-aid kit in one. During this monthly walk, we will head into the Gentbrugse Meersen, armed with curiosity (and good walking shoes). We will get to know flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees that are not only edible or beautiful but have also been known for centuries for their medicinal talents. Which plant helps with a runny nose? Which soothes a sting, ache, or irritation? And which was standard in every household — long before the pharmacy existed? Count on fun facts, strong stories, and the occasional “aha, that just grows here!” moment. We look, smell, feel, and wonder. Because one thing is certain: there is a herb for everything… and sometimes it just grows under your nose. What grows along the path today was once an indispensable aid for ailments, aches, and small worries. With fun facts, old folk tales, and surprising applications, we dive into the world of medicinal plants. Look, smell, taste (in moderation 😉) and let yourself be surprised by what nature has in store. Because one thing is certain: there is a herb for everything!
