This museum highlights the operation of the Administratie van Douane and Excise since the creation of Belgium. It focuses, among other things, on what happened at the borders in the past, but also shows the current operation at the ever-changing borders. In the D&A museum, we highlight border events and the operation of Customs and Excise since 1830. It focuses, among other things, on what happened at the borders in the past, but also shows the current operation at the ever-changing borders. In the completely renewed permanent exhibition, the four main characters in this story form the common thread: the official and his/her administration, the flow of goods, the border, and the fraudster/smuggler. Behind every object, every document, or every photo lies a story, about inventive minds and sleuths, about fraud and fraud prevention. Often anecdotes with a twist about cat-and-mouse games between occasional smugglers and customs officers, but also accounts of hard confrontations with professional criminals. Next to the museum, there is also the documentation center where interested parties can go by appointment with customs-related questions. THE GUIDED TOUR LASTS 90 MIN.
