Scattered Rhymes - Frank Vaganée Trio & Zefiro Torna

During the 2026-27 concert season, the music ensemble Zefiro Torna celebrates its 30th anniversary. That also includes a revival of the acclaimed production Scattered Rhymes, together with the trio around the virtuoso jazz saxophonist Frank Vaganée. On a spring morning in 1327, in a small church near Avignon, Francesco Petrarca crosses Laura's gaze. From that one encounter springs a stream of verses – 366 sonnets that together form ‘Il Canzoniere’: an intimate labyrinth of desire, beauty and melancholy. His words are like whispers of an unattainable love, but also like mirrors of a world in motion. In this timeless homage, old madrigals, baroque sound textures, romantic songs and avant-garde improvisations merge with new compositions based on Petrarch’s poetry.
