The godfathers of Californian desert rock, with Mario Lalli, organizer of the legendary generator parties in the desert in Palm Desert, where Kyuss learned the ropes, a much-requested guest at the Desert Sessions organized by Josh Homme's and recognized as the catalyst of the Desert rock scene in Dave Grohl's Sonic Highways docu. Yawning Man's fluid and jamming style forms a heavy hypnotic groove, and contains influences of psychedelia, folk, jazz, punk, world music, and cartoons. Support is Soft Sun, a dreamy post-rock band with Yawning Man’s guitarist and the Noorse Pia Isaksen.
