My heritage revisited

My heritage revisited What if children became the explorers and creators of tomorrow's heritage? Mon Patrimoine Revisité is an artistic adventure that invites students to take a fresh look at the heritage that surrounds them. Through a journey combining discoveries, encounters, and plastic creation, they explore the traces of the past, take ownership of their local history, and reinvent it with sensitivity and imagination. Part of the PECA (Cultural and Artistic Education Pathway), this project allows children to discover the world of museums as well as the riches of artistic, architectural, industrial, and folkloric heritage. It stimulates their curiosity, develops their creativity, and encourages them to become actors in their cultural environment. In 2027, the Rebecq Cultural Center is partnering with Élodie Maertens, a local artist, to accompany four classes from the entity in this unique experience: the Rebecq municipal school, the Bierghes municipal school, the Les Petits Pas school in Quenast, and the Petite École Bleue. Throughout the year, the students will set out to discover two iconic places in their region: the Carrière de Quenast and the Musée du Porphyre. Inspired by these visits, they will observe, question, transform, and reinvent this heritage through original and collective creations. The project will conclude with an exhibition open to the public, highlighting their discoveries, their creativity, and their unique perspective on the history and landscapes that shape their daily lives. This exhibition will also be enriched by the participation of Rebecq artists, invited to offer their own interpretation of this iconic heritage that is the Carrière de Quenast. An inspiring dialogue between children's perspectives and artists' perspectives, around a place that deeply marks the identity of our territory. Throughout the exhibition, participatory workshops and activities will be offered to the public. These meetings will allow visitors, with family or friends, to discover local heritage from an original angle, to give free rein to their creativity, and to share a convivial moment around the world of the Carrière de Quenast.
