Poetry you didn't expect Borders? Voor Roufaida they don't exist. Or maybe they do, but she doesn't put them up. She tears them down. Roufaida moves between North African roots and alternative pop, between Arabic poetry and unconventional melodies. Influenced by Rosalía, Björk, and Arooj Aftab, she creates a sound language that sounds both familiar and strange. In 2023, she burst into the music landscape with her debut EP. Don't Bend carried the special resonance of the Moroccan guembri. Kalimat took a breath with poet Nizar Qabbani. She was at Down The Rabbit Hole and Noorderslag, shared the stage with Balthazar and Eefje de Visser; and she left something behind everywhere. Undoubtedly also in Leietheater. HUMO called Don't Bend "the coolest groove of the year".
