LIGHT-SENSITIVE | An intimate musical about dementia

At the De Smits family, Christmas Eve revolves around stories from the past. Opa Achiel traditionally takes the lead, but this year everything is different. Dementia lets its grip on time slacken. His memories – once so vivid – fade like a photo on a light-sensitive plate. Zoon Peter, daughter-in-law Ester, and grandson Thomas see how Achiel slowly disappears into his own past. They try to hold on to him, to bring his memories back to life. But how do you hold on to what is slowly disappearing? Lichtgevoelig (Light-sensitive) is a musical journey through time and memory, an intimate and moving story about the power of family, love, and loss. With an impressive cast and original songs such as Een ruiter en z’n paard (A rider and his horse) and Dans met de tijd (Dance with time), this performance brings not only an ode to life but also to the people we never want to forget. A warm, poignant, and above all hopeful experience for the whole family. This performance is organized by the Eerstelijnszone Regio Menen in collaboration with the community center.
