Sitting on my chair

Blaise is a quite banally extraordinary child. Like every school morning, his alarm goes off at 7:00 AM, inevitably. On the way to school, his whole body begs him to turn back, so he sings to give himself courage. This morning, like every Monday, during math class Monsieur Lhermitte states the problem of the day. Blaise remains frozen. Stunned. The words get tangled in his head. Then, something shifts. Blaise enters a kind of waking dream: an inner, surreal, poetic epic. He finds himself on a beach and turns his problem into a poem. By crossing this symbolic space, Blaise understands what is happening inside him. He tames his blockages, explores his memory, his way of learning, his inner world, and little by little, regains a lightness and the taste for learning in his own way. What happens in the head of a child who does not understand? Do we think of nothing when we understand nothing? Or a thousand things at the same time? Can we transform school difficulty into strength? Into a story? Into a dream? Assis sur ma chaise is a show about school failure, but also and above all about the possibility of getting back up. It is an imaginary journey into the heart of the blockage. A dive into the head of a child we think is lost. This show wants to offer children another look, another story, not to deny the difficulty, but to give it meaning again – and why not – beauty. This show is aimed at children, but also at the adults who accompany them: teachers, educators, parents. It opens a space for listening, sharing, and discussion. It does not seek to accuse. It seeks to make visible a functioning that seems incoherent to most people.
