John & Jen

John & Jen tells the intense and battered bond of John and Jen Tracy, brother and sister united by a difficult childhood and a family that is falling apart. Everything starts in 1952: Jen, the eldest, protects her little brother from a violent father. Despite their oppositions and the years that pass, their relationship evolves and transforms, especially when Jen leaves the family home to study in New York at the beginning of the 1960s. But when John, under the influence of their father, joins the army and leaves to fight in Vietnam, Jen is overwhelmed by a feeling of abandonment and a deep fear of losing him. Almost thirty years later, Jen has become a mother in her turn. She tries to raise her son, also named John, whose sensitivity and trials awaken the wounds of her own youth. Through the journey of her child, Jen is forced to face a past that she has never really left behind her. Between memories, love, and guilt, mother and son seek how to move forward without betraying those they love, and how to live with the lasting traces left by absence and violence.
