Studi per l'Intonazione del Mare

“Een ecologia dell’ascolto – an ecology of listening”: this is how Salvatore Sciarrino describes his music. In Studi per L’intonazione del Mare unfolds a sonic ecosystem in which micro- and macro-organisms, growth processes, fractal relationships, statistical natural phenomena, swarms and schools are embodied by the soloists and two hundred amateur musicians. In the run-up to the performance, I SOLISTI works for months with two hundred amateur musicians from all over Flanders. That joint preparation makes Studi per L’intonazione del Mare much more than a masterful concert: it becomes a process of meeting and exchange, in which a new artistic and social ecosystem can grow. Studi per L’intonazione del Mare is more than a concert; it is a musical journey of discovery that invites the listener to experience the silence, the movement and the power of nature through the refined and innovative composition techniques of Sciarrino.
