Cory Hanson

The South California-born Cory Hanson lent his services to bands and artists like Together PANGEA, Meatbodies and Mikal Cronin before landing with the freaky psychedelia outfit Wand. Besides his main band and musical excursions with kindred spirit Ty Segall , he has consistently released beautiful solo work under his own name since 2016. In doing so, Hanson always shows himself to be a master songwriter, virtuoso guitarist, and compelling storyteller with a satirical and self-deprecating pen. From the acid-folk-tinged debut ‘ The Unborn Capitalist from Limbo ’ (2016) to the tongue-in-cheek rock opus ‘ Western Cum ’ (2023), Hanson takes on a different guise each time, without losing his individuality. On the 2025 release ‘ I Love People ’, Hanson flirts with country and Americana. For the first time, he swapped his guitar for the piano while writing. The result is one of the most beautiful and classy records of the year. As always with Cory Hanson, the arrangements are perfect – this time with the help of the band members of Wand who swapped their space robes for trucker caps.
