Night of the bat Boutersem

Dusk on a summer day and there they are again. Fast shadows that seem to turn circles through your garden. Bats looking for insects. Bats have fascinated people for an eternity. It is therefore not surprising that we can always count on a lot of interest for the night of the bat. However, there are many more species than just that common pipistrelle that you usually see in your garden. With each their own characteristics. At the castle of Kwabeek - the town hall - we find an ideal location to look for bats in Boutersem. Besides a bat scavenger hunt in the park, we also visit the old ice cellar and get an explanation about the research that was carried out a few years ago into the Bechstein's bats in Lovenjoel. There, it was investigated how they use the landscape and this yielded surprising results. We are also particularly pleased that we have managed to lure Robbe Van Wassenhove, a resounding name from the bat community, to take us out into the fascinating world of bats that evening. The activity is free for members - as a non-member you pay five euros - but registration is necessary.
