Symphonic Tales

In Symphonic Tales, Morphose Trio tells timeless stories through some of the most beloved symphonic works. The trio has arranged the compositions themselves, tailoring them to their unique line-up, resulting in a modern and authentic interpretation. Anne van Herreweghen’s stunning works of art enrich the music, and thanks to graphic designer Gert-Jan Verdeyen, her art truly comes to life. The result is a crossover performance in which music and visual art merge to form an enchanting and narrative whole. The concert opens with the dreamy sounds of Debussy’s Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un faune, which evokes the vibrant life of a faun on a sunny afternoon. Next, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess Suite transports you to 1930s America, where jazz, blues and classical music come together in a beautiful tale of love and resilience. In Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye, timeless fairy tales have been set to delicate music and the concert concludes with Bernstein’s West Side Story: a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet brimming with passion, rhythm and the vibrant spirit of New York City.
