Nevertheless, the philosophy of “the most pessimistic philosopher of all time” is extraordinarily uplifting, infectious, and even liberating. Nietzsche, who considered Schopenhauer his mentor, praised him for his “great cheerfulness”. Van Brabandt created sparkling theater from the tragicomic life and enlightening thinking of his favorite philosopher and was able to convince his favorite actor Damiaan De Schrijver to take on the role of Schopenhauer. Through the mix of simplicity, humor, and wisdom, this philosopher also becomes one of flesh and blood. In addition, this SCHOPENHAUER teaches us why life is suffering, and how you can free yourself from that suffering according to “the Boeddha van Frankfurt”.
