Summer organ concerts

During the summer, the Friends of the Historisch Van Peteghemorgel van Haringe are again organizing a series of prestigious organ concerts. The organ of Haringe has enjoyed international fame for a long time, and it is increasing - just like the interest in the traditional organ concerts, by the way. This year's concert series underlines this once again, because with, among others, the Lorenzo Ghielmi, João Vaz, and Maduka Nakamaru, international top musicians are guests in the distant Westhoek this summer.  The series opens this year on the smaller Van Peteghemorgel in the Saint-Jan Ontvoogdingskerk of neighboring village Stavele. There, Wouter Dekonink together with the Japanese violinist Madoka Nakamaru will perform a unique double concert on Friday, July 3, with music by Buxtehude and contemporaries. On July 17, the Italian organist Lorenzo Ghielmi is a guest in Haringe. His recordings have been frequently awarded prizes such as the prestigious Diapason d'Or. A few years ago, he already played a sublime concert in Haringe and this time too, it will be enjoyable to listen to his organ playing with unparalleled depth and virtuosity. Also on July 31, there is again a virtuoso foreign organist as a guest in Haringe. De Portugees João Vaz, organ teacher at the Escola Superior de Música van Lissabon, embodies the soul of the rich Portuguese organ tradition and brings the authentic sounds of the Baroque and the classical era to life at every concert. And the concert series is concluded very specially this year on August 15 by organist Jan Vermeire and actor Tjen De Munck. With a rich variety of music and language, they reconstruct the journey of Philip II - the heir of Charles V - through the Europe of the 16th century. Tickets cost 15 euros per concert, and after the concert on August 15, you can join for the banquet in De Levaard (3-course menu - €48 all in).
