‘Where modern jazz, folk, and poetry meet.’
De Antwerpse singer Yentl Verborgt presents new music. Indigo, her first EP, became a personal and vulnerable story. In her songs, she blends intimate lyrics with modern jazz and folk. Her study time in Barcelona invariably finds a way into the music in harmony, melody, language, or interpretation. Some songs are rooted in Yentl’s childhood: the Kempen forests, the idyllic garden of her grandmother, the duality of young life, …
Yentl is flanked during this concert by her permanent band with Wout Gooris on piano (FESTI, Bert Joris ft. Sam Joris Octet e.a.), Jeroen Reggers on guitar (Unfinished Business, Jeroen Reggers Quartet, Muze Jazz Orchestra e.a.), Jasper De Roeck on double bass (Yes Pavlov, Oona Maeve, Muze Jazz Orchestra e.a.), and Jesse Dockx on drums (Anti-Panopticon, Lieven Cambré Quartet e.a.).
“What I find most beautiful about playing with this band is that every concert is different. We listen and make music curiously and the interaction with the audience also plays an important role in that”, says Yentl.
