To our dear ones

During puberty, normative injunctions rain down on adolescents, reinforcing inequalities and violence related to gender. With this new choreographic piece, Leslie Mannès imagines other narratives. On stage, bodies emancipate themselves, take up space, express the plurality of voices and thoughts. To the rumble of their anger, their joy, or their tenderness responds the hope of a collective change, far from alienating stereotypes. For several years, we have been witnessing a simultaneous movement of liberation of speech with #MeToo and uninhibited sexist positions, reinforced by the rise of the extreme right and adherence to the masculinist movement. The show takes the form of a double dedication: to our dear ones – the lineages of women of yesterday, today, and tomorrow – and to our flesh – bruised, violated, silenced. It whispers to us to take side paths to shake up affiliations, attempt the adventure of reinvention, and make love a dissidence. A nos chères belongs to the cycle Nos volcans, nos tendresses, imagined by Leslie Mannès for young people aged 12 to 15. It revolves around an ecology of social relations and notions of cooperation and citizenship, with a focus on gender equality. As with her other creations, the partner artist of Varia imagines a device favoring the meeting and the gushing of common imaginaries. In co-presentation with Pierre de Lune.
