Met White Paper present Tuur Florizoone and Anu Junnonen a long-awaited first album and thus play their trump card: Solid roots! 25 Years of no-nonsense friendship and musical collaborations lead to a sincere and adventurous story in 12 sensitive songs. White Paper breathes proximity, vulnerability and a strong interaction that suggests the origin of both musicians: jazz, world, pop and contemporary chamber music. Anu Junnonen and Tuur Florizoone worked together in recent years in various musical contexts, including in the group aNoo, with which they released two albums: The Luckless Lands Of The North (Homerecords, 2007) and Sinipiika (Provarecords, 2011). After the last concert of that band in 2013, they continued to play together sporadically, while the idea for a duo album slowly took shape. Voor White Paper they resolutely chose new material. Anu Junnonen wrote the lyrics; Tuur Florizoone composed the music, with the exception of a few songs. They worked on this routinely for several months. Accordion became voice, words formed stories, a nordic shine shines over an intimate and boundless musical landscape. The universe of White Paper now feels both colorful and sober. What started as a duo of vocals and accordion grew into a sound palette in which piano, percussion, keyboards and polyphonic vocals also found a place and cello wonder Jörg Brinkmann was brought on board for 2 songs. The recording did not take place in a sterile studio but in a secluded, spacious villa in the Zuiden van Frankrijk with a view of endless hills. The result? A contrast-rich, probing and undoubtedly adventurous album with ten new compositions and two covers, including ‘Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime’ by The Korgis. Extra info: Tuur Florizoone is a Belgian composer, accordionist and pianist. He belongs to the most striking musicians of his generation and moves effortlessly between jazz, world music and cinematic sound worlds. His music is characterized by melodic simplicity and a strong emotional power of expression. Florizoone composed music for film and theater and gained international recognition with his soundtrack for Aanrijding in Moscou, for which he was nominated for the World Soundtrack Discovery Award in 2008. In 2010 he founded his own label Aventura Musica, on which White Paper will be the thirteenth release. In addition to his solo work, he is active in various collaborations and projects, both nationally and internationally. Anu Junnonen is a Finnish-Belgian singer, composer and songwriter with roots in jazz and influences from folk, electronica and contemporary pop. She moved to Belgium in 1999 to study at the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel. The combination of her Finnish roots and Belgian experience results in a recognizable, personal sound. In addition to her solo work under the moniker Junn, Anu has been co-leader of the vocal collective Brussels Vocal Project since 2011. In addition, she is active as a teacher and teaches at, among others, KASK in Ghent. Here you can find a foretaste. Anu Junnonen vocals Tuur Florizoone accordion, piano, keyboard
