Trio Adelfoi
ONNIS Andrea – clarinet
BATAILLIE Ludovic - violin
BATAILLIE Florestan - Piano
Het Adelfoi Trio always seeks coherence in their concert programs. In this recital, two overarching threads can be discerned: on the one hand, dance music, and on the other, the contrast between heavenly and demonic sounds.
A suite is a sequence of dances, but in the classical concert hall, they are intended for listening rather than actual dancing. Bij Shostakovich's '5 pieces' sound very light, in contrast to many other pages of his oeuvre: this is pure entertainment music. Stravinsky's dances are of a completely different caliber. Raw, rhythmically challenging, at times sharply dissonant, but incredibly tightly stylized. The brutality found in Stravinsky's demonic work contrasts sharply with the heavenly tintinnabuli style of Arvo Pärt, a beloved composer classified under Neo-spirituality.
Ook de Argentijn Piazzolla makes an appearance with his recognizable and peerless tangos.
A concert where sitting still will be a challenge!
