Violinist and Hardanger fiddler Elise Boeur draws from the rich sources of Norwegian and Swedish fiddle music, weaving diverse, extraordinary influences into it to create a versatile sound deeply rooted in Nordic traditions. Adam Iredale-Gray is a versatile guitarist and violinist with deep roots in traditional Irish music and a passion for innovation. Both have toured for years with various projects – including their acclaimed neo-folk quintet Aerialists – while continually playing fiddle music during sessions, folk dance evenings, and afterparties. With this duo project, you are invited into the informal atmosphere of those musical after-hours sessions, as they perform their favorite melodies on the hardanger fiddle, guitar, and in a swirling interplay of two violins.\n\nTheir performance is a masterly exploration of traditional music, gathered through years of travel and immersion in orally transmitted traditions. A Een Noorse *gangar* learned in the mountains of Telemark, Irish *jigs* picked up during countless sessions, a French *bourrée* from a village dance: the common thread connecting these pieces is Boeur and Iredale-Gray's genuine and infectious love for the melodies. Their debut album as a duo, *Fiddle Tunes*, is exactly what the title promises: a celebration of sharing fiddle traditions as it has been done for centuries, with the melody coming to life anew with every repetition as the musicians play together knee to knee.
