Syrian clarinet meets Dutch string ensemble. And they lived happily ever after
Kinan Azmeh moves where jazz, classical and Arabic traditions meet. Or rather: where those boxes cease to exist. Het Nederlandse Fuse Ensemble plays everywhere except within the lines. Together they make music that is rooted in fantasy, unpredictability and intangibility. Expect no well-behaved fusion but colorful clashes: the clarinet mutters, chatters, shoots itself forward, the strings follow or resist. A concert without classical, without jazz, without label. Just: music that is what it is.
