Metambu’s sound is built around Arnaldo’s swinging guitar and his charismatic vocals, which sweep you away from the very first notes. Sensual cadences and captivating rhythms inspired by Brazilian samba-rock and samba-reggae as well as by Latin cumbia, and cha-cha-cha. The groove of Vatapa is refined and explosive at the same time, powered by a solid, vigorous rhythm section: Colombian virtuoso Danny Millan on drums, welded with Sicilian funk maestro Agostino Tarantino on bass and Charel Pereré’s percussion and backing vocals which bring you directly to the ancestral strength of Brazilian Afro-descendant tradition. The vibrant metal of Roberto de Oliveira’s trombone completes the picture with a sophisticated touch of Latin jazz.
