SUMMER TOURS 2026 - In the footsteps of craters and mines – Wijtschate

IN THE TRACK OF CRATERS AND MINES - Wijtschate - 7.6 km WWI plays an important role during this walk. From November 1914, the heights of Wijtschate were in German hands; a strategically important observation point 7 kilometers from Ypres. Het Kampagnebos with German remains used to collect the village's wastewater, but is now slowly recovering. June 7, 1917, and the Spanbroekmolen crater (Pool of Peace) bring the war of then and the nature of now together. An oasis of peace where chaos once reigned.
