Piano Duo Elato

In Parijs around 1900, the question raged: where does the music of tomorrow begin? Debussy opens with his ‘Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune’ - called the beginning of modernism by Boulez - followed by the refined colors of the ‘Petite Suite’. Then the light tilts: Les Six - a young French group that set itself against impressionism – show a different Paris, clear and playful. In Germaine Tailleferre’s sparkling ‘Suite burlesque’ and Milhaud’s effervescent ‘Le Boeuf sur le Toit’ sound their fresh modernity: rhythm, esprit and a city that breathes faster. Finally, we return to Debussy’s heir: Ravel. With ‘La Valse’ we bring the ecstasy, the break and the intoxication of an era that balances on the tipping point. One city, two visions and we put that musical gamble back on the table: le pari de Paris. Kirsten Gedeshi and Lenny Bui-Vandeput (Pianoduo Elato) got to know each other during their studies at the Conservatorium van Brussel with Jan Michiels. Afterwards, they perfected their studies at the LUCA school of Arts in Leuven and K’ARTS in Seoul (South Korea). With a focus on the masterpieces written for four hands, Pianoduo Elato performs an impressive repertoire. Their performances have already brought them to various international stages in, among others, South Korea, Albania, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
