A Streetcar Named Desire, the post-war theatrical play by the Amerikaanse Tennessee Williams, is one of the most important repertoire pieces still being performed today. The iconic 1951 film adaptation by Elia Kazan made lead actors Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh even bigger film stars than they already were. Now, this classic gets a new, powerful translation on stage with Kevin Janssens, Clara Cleymans, and Evelien Bosmans bringing the iconic characters to life. Make no mistake: Tramlijn Begeerte is not an obvious piece. Narcissism, alcohol addiction, and domestic violence all pass in review.
