A Streetcar Named Desire, the post-war theatrical play by the Amerikaanse Tennessee Williams, is one of the most important repertoire pieces still being performed today. The iconic 1951 film adaptation by Elia Kazan made lead actors Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh even bigger film stars than they already were. Now, this classic gets a new, powerful translation on stage with Kevin Janssens, Clara Cleymans, and Evelien Bosmans bringing the iconic characters to life. Make no mistake: Tramlijn Begeerte is not an obvious piece. Narcissism, alcohol addiction, and domestic violence all pass in review. And yet, 75 years later, the piece remains just as relevant; precisely because of its heartless honesty and the layered characters that continue to challenge and inspire actors. The result is a gripping theater experience that leaves no one untouched. Na Groenten from Balen (CCHA, 2025) is production house één zee, once again a guest at CCHA. With their love for repertoire, they bring an absolute classic this time, with a top cast directed by Koen Van Impe. Let yourself be carried away by a story that chafes, touches, and lingers for a long time. original text Tennessee Williams / translation Janine Brogten / director Koen Van Impe / cast Kevin Janssens, Clara Cleymans, Evelien Bosmans, Ben Segers, Sandrine Van Handenhoven, Yemi Oduwale, Ann De Winne, Rino Sokol, Leo de Clippeleir & Flora Van Canneyt / set design Saskia Louwaard / costumes Marie Dries / art director Tom Boute / introduction Tuur Devens / © Lieven Dirckx eenzee.be
