2 pearls by city architect Van Rysselberghe combined in 1 guided tour. In 1898, city architect Charles Van Rysselberghe chose a simple and stylish design for the museum building. He based it on the shape of a classical temple. His idea? The building had to be like a jewelry box: beautiful, but modest, so that the real treasures, the artworks, received all the attention. Within walking distance of the museum, you will find another work by Van Rysselberghe: the music kiosk in the Citadelpark. It was beautifully restored in 2022-23.
